Summary

From creator Kentaro Miura comes Berserk, a sprawling adult fantasy epic of horror, humor, and fierce imagination and the inspiration for the wildly popular anime。

To cure the afflicted Casca, Guts and company battle Elf Island's magical defenses and finally reach Elfhelm, where the elven ruler opens the Corridor of Dreams, projecting Schierke and Farnese into the forbidding wasteland of Casca's mind。 But horrors lurk there, some more foul than any in the material world!

My favorite character the protaganist the hero of this story GUTS have become a more of a supporting character, it just disappoints me that we dont get to see enough of him。 I wish we will be able to have a peaceful ending for guts。I HOPE!!

The group finally reach Elfhelm and start the process of healing Casca。 This volume initially feels very whimsical but after Schierke and Farnese descend into Casca’s broken mind it starts to get much more serious again and leaves you fearful of what’s to come。

So we are going to find out if "The Flower Storm Monarch" can help Cassa。 The traveller reach their goals and now they have to wait while the witch and Farnce travel into Cassa mind。 We don't know what is going to happen and who they would find。 After reading this series for over 3 years I finally figured out the title。 It is beautiful and horrible in turns and I DO NOT KNOW how this will turn out。 So we are going to find out if "The Flower Storm Monarch" can help Cassa。 The traveller reach their goals and now they have to wait while the witch and Farnce travel into Cassa mind。 We don't know what is going to happen and who they would find。 After reading this series for over 3 years I finally figured out the title。 It is beautiful and horrible in turns and I DO NOT KNOW how this will turn out。 。。。more

Este señor tanto te hace una escena de acción con la Berserker Armor llena de violencia bestial como te dibuja paisajes que no tienen nada que envidiarle a Ghibli。 Y yo lo amo en ambas versiones。

This is one of if not my favorite volumes。 They've reached elf island and Casca's mind is ready to be recovered。 And damn is this good stuff。 Casca's mind and how they go about repairing it is the most interesting this series has been since right after the golden age or around the time that the more magic elements were introduced。 I don't say this lightly as I've loved the entire series, I hardly think there is an actually weak volume。But this。。。 It fills me with hope and it's just edge of my se This is one of if not my favorite volumes。 They've reached elf island and Casca's mind is ready to be recovered。 And damn is this good stuff。 Casca's mind and how they go about repairing it is the most interesting this series has been since right after the golden age or around the time that the more magic elements were introduced。 I don't say this lightly as I've loved the entire series, I hardly think there is an actually weak volume。But this。。。 It fills me with hope and it's just edge of my seat reading。5 stars。 。。。more

This volume is warm, elves, guts being all cute and mature and the journy to restore casca's mind。 I really hope to see them both back together licking each other wounds。 This volume is warm, elves, guts being all cute and mature and the journy to restore casca's mind。 I really hope to see them both back together licking each other wounds。 。。。more

Only now with all those fragments of memories one is able to realise fully how good was old "Berserk", the first and the second arc。 And how it became more and more poor-plotted, full of filler chapters, generic shonen manga。 Lack of remarkable events and characters, lack of brutal and grimdark elements, lack of plot twists and smart plot itself — but more and more teen wizards, pirates, stupid unicorns and fanservice instead。 Only now with all those fragments of memories one is able to realise fully how good was old "Berserk", the first and the second arc。 And how it became more and more poor-plotted, full of filler chapters, generic shonen manga。 Lack of remarkable events and characters, lack of brutal and grimdark elements, lack of plot twists and smart plot itself — but more and more teen wizards, pirates, stupid unicorns and fanservice instead。 。。。more

I started out a little bored with this volume, but I got more invested in it towards the end。 The Party gets into Elfheim and learns more about the astral world, and that Schierke’s master was balancing it with reality。 The Jim Henson critters and ‘comedic’ antics were kind of weird but there were a couple of great moments in this volume。 One of which involves the dark, ongoing quest to mend Casca’s mind。I enjoyed the party scene because we got a warm moment with Guts。 He thanks his companions f I started out a little bored with this volume, but I got more invested in it towards the end。 The Party gets into Elfheim and learns more about the astral world, and that Schierke’s master was balancing it with reality。 The Jim Henson critters and ‘comedic’ antics were kind of weird but there were a couple of great moments in this volume。 One of which involves the dark, ongoing quest to mend Casca’s mind。I enjoyed the party scene because we got a warm moment with Guts。 He thanks his companions for helping him, and it was a nice resolution to smoothing our his distrust of others。 Thanks to Roderick and Serpico, he was finally able to sit and relax, and I felt it。 Farnese and Schierke through a mutual, magic sleep, travel into Casca’s brain to make sense of her trauma。 This is a dream sequence done right, and I like getting Casca’s abstract perspective on the current state of things。 I also felt a bittersweet nostalgia revisiting images of the Golden Age arc。 Also dog Guts is weird。 。。。more

I can't believe we are so close, so close to getting Casca back but I am terrified of this too。I am happy that it's Schierke and Farnese who are guiding the process in that dream hellspace。It feels more appropriate for them to help Casca return than for Guts to do it, even though I am heart-broken for the man。The art is as gorgeous as ever, who is surprised? Witches are on watch for intruders, and send minions to fight Guts and company。 Fortunately, the misunderstanding is cleared up when Archmage Gedfring arrives to explain that he was told they would be coming。Turns out that a peaceful colony of magic-users shares the island with the Fair Folk, isolated from the world but able to sense the mystical disturbances beyond。 For the first time in many months, our protagonists are able to relax and take in the wonders around them。Magnifico’s plan to sell the elves for profit fails immediately, and we meet Danann, Queen of the Flower Storm。 The fairy queen agrees to help cure Casca, but can only facilitate the process by granting young witch Schierke and apprentice Farnese access to Casca’s dreams。 They will have to navigate her dark memories and the trauma that broke Guts’ lover in order to heal her mind。And considering the monsters in Casca’s mind, this will be no walk in the park! The art as always is detailed and excellent, with impressive splash pages of both fairyland beauty and hellish mindscape。This volume’s plotline allows for some relatively quiet and contemplative moments, and the personality growth of some characters is mentioned。 (On the other hand, Puck is considered just as annoying in his hometown as abroad。) Guts even has time to consider that even if Casca is restored to sanity, their relationship may be beyond repair。The new character most likely to be appearing after this arc is Morda, a witch in her late teens or early twenties who’s bored with peaceful study and wants to see the dangerous outside world。 Given her amoral attitude and the use of a wicker man as an attack puppet, Morda might not be joining the good guys。In many ways, this is a nice breather volume before we plunge back into the all-violence more typical of the series。 Highly recommended if you’ve enjoyed earlier parts of the series。 。。。more

At long last - after decades of wait - Casca is getting herself cured! Her mind is probed into and her mental hang-ups are being dealt away with from within。 It's pretty great。 And yet。。。 something feels wrong。It's taken so long to get here, the resolution is just about bound to feel anti-climactic no matter what you do。 For all the time it's taken, the big emotional stakes, Guts's driving force as it's been, there's been almost no narrative build-up or tension to it in all these years: no great At long last - after decades of wait - Casca is getting herself cured! Her mind is probed into and her mental hang-ups are being dealt away with from within。 It's pretty great。 And yet。。。 something feels wrong。It's taken so long to get here, the resolution is just about bound to feel anti-climactic no matter what you do。 For all the time it's taken, the big emotional stakes, Guts's driving force as it's been, there's been almost no narrative build-up or tension to it in all these years: no great climactic battles to power through, no emotional catharsis, just a couple standard wayside trips and fights with no particular personal stakes other than simply surviving。 And then once we do get there, the king of the fairies pretty much immediately and with no additional fuss allows her to be healed。The closest we've gotten to personal stakes is the nagging uncertainty on whether such a thing can work out at all, as well as Skull Knight's cryptic comment that what Guts wishes may not be what Casca wishes, something that was never really elaborated on - I mean, why would she not want to have her sanity restored? So it's mostly been a straight line, drama-wise (even if that straight line's been pretty high up)。I think it's the extremely long timespan that's throwing me off: we've been at this for so long already that one's mind begins to look forward to the end, and thinks the long-awaited climax is here。 But this isn't it。 We're not even close to done - it's just a quick break, a moment of healing after a long battle, nothing fancier than that。 We're not in Mount Doom, we're in Rivendell。And even then, as we see from the next volume, we're far from done。 。。。more

I didn't care for most of this, but I loved the dream stuff near the end。 At this point, I feel like Guts has kinda taken a backseat so the ten or so characters he's travelling with can get a larger focus。 I don't have a problem with this in theory, especially since my favorite chapters of Berserk are probably the ones that tell the backstory of Lady Farnese, but I just don't care for some of these characters (like the mermaid girl and the sailors) because they're two dimensional and so much les I didn't care for most of this, but I loved the dream stuff near the end。 At this point, I feel like Guts has kinda taken a backseat so the ten or so characters he's travelling with can get a larger focus。 I don't have a problem with this in theory, especially since my favorite chapters of Berserk are probably the ones that tell the backstory of Lady Farnese, but I just don't care for some of these characters (like the mermaid girl and the sailors) because they're two dimensional and so much less interesting than Guts, Griffith, Casca, and Farnese。 I don't care much for the more fantastical elements of this because I kinda feel like I've seen so much of it before。 Witches, unicorns, mermaids, and the rest are just so unoriginal compared to some of the crazy designs for apostles that Miura has come up with。 I know that I'm complaining, but I think I just feel like Berserk's gotten a bit off track。 Some of the stuff that's been setup with Griffith recently is great and I love the direction that's going in, so I would've loved to see more of that。Again, I really loved the stuff with Casca's dream at the end。 Reading through that section really makes me feel like the end is coming sooner than later, but honestly, who knows what Miura has planned。 I really love Berserk, so I look forward to seeing what happens next with Casca, and I look forward to seeing a Guts/Griffith confrontation at some point in the future (though probably not for like ten more years, tbh)。 。。。more
